A sync needs the recording and its matching transcript. Preserve the reporter's page and line structure so designation references continue to identify the same testimony.
Recommended Transcript Input
Start with a page-and-line TXT transcript. If your reporter delivers plain ASCII text with an .ascii extension, save a copy with a .txt extension. Check the imported pages and lines before running the job.
Other Synced Transcript Formats
The local workflow also reads PTF, PTS, AMICUS text, OpenDVT XML, MDB, CMS, SBF, and XMEF inputs. Vendor variants can differ; confirm that your specific file imports and carries the expected timing information. A format name alone does not establish compatibility with every vendor version.
PDF, DOCX, and RealLegal PTX are not supported directly by the current local sync workflow. Ask the reporter for a page-and-line TXT export. A generated speech transcript is not a substitute for the reporter's certified transcript.
Recording Input
Video inputs include MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, and M4V. Audio inputs include MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, and OGG. A container extension does not guarantee a playable codec. Start with the original recording and verify playback; some files require a local conversion to a browser-compatible copy.
Match the Files
- Make sure the recording covers the same testimony and volume as the transcript.
- Check the beginning, middle, and end for timing drift or missing sections.
- Keep space for the source, any converted playback copy, and the delivery bundle.
