Working with Designations and Designation Sets

Mark page/line ranges of testimony, organize them into named designation sets, bulk-add ranges, and import designation lists from text or spreadsheets.

A designation is a page/line range of testimony — the excerpts you intend to play or offer. A designation set is a named collection of them, so "Plaintiff's Affirmatives" and "Defense Counters" stay organized on the same transcript.

Create a Set and Add Designations

  1. Open the synced transcript in the viewer.
  2. Use Create Designation Set and give it a name — one set per party or purpose works well. Rename any time with Rename Designation Set.
  3. Select a page/line range and use Add Designations. Each designation carries a color, so competing sets are easy to tell apart in the viewer.

Adding Ranges in Bulk

For long designation lists, skip the one-at-a-time flow:

  • Bulk Add Designations — type or paste many page/line ranges at once.
  • Designation Upload — upload the list you received from counsel and DepoFlow parses it into structured ranges. Pasted text, TXT, CSV, XLSX, and DOCX all work.

What Designations Unlock

Designation sets drive the delivery exports: Export MP4 renders the designated testimony as a stitched clip video, Export Designation PDF produces the paper version, and the Designation List (.txt) gives you the exchange-ready page/line list.

What It Costs

In DepoFlow Review, viewing and searching a synced deposition is free. Creating designations and exporting clips is a one-time $99 unlock per transcript, and one unlock covers everyone at your firm.
